On-board Initialization Sequence

The first 60 seconds are crucial for Satellites power-on after the deployment phase. The  SW executes the correct initialization of the on board computer resources and verifies the health status of the equipment providing the Command and Observation capabilities that allow the Ground operators to  safely keep under control the startup and intervening in case of anomalies.

Mass Memory SW Application

Mass Memories are devices that allow to temporary store the in-orbit satellites data. A complex Application provides a structured file system and controls the incoming data filling. When commanded by on-board sequence, the SW handles the data distribution to the antenna subsystem that takes care of the transmission to the ground station.

Our offering includes

  • Memory Modules Sequencer

  • File System Organization

  • File Management Services

  • Data Acquisition & Distribution

  • High Speed Channel Monitoring

Successful implementations

  • ESA Earth Observation Satellites Imaging Data store

  • Science Experimental Data Payload

  • National Mission for Search And Rescue

Time&Space Partitioning Applications

In the modern Aircraft, the Flight management system is composed of many applications that share the resources of complex Mission&Management computers based on multiprocessor architecture. Time & Space partitioning development techniques provides the necessary separation degrees to guarantee the required safety level and forces the applications not to propagate failures or divert the integrity of remaining SW.

Our offering includes

  • Memory Space Application

  • HW Drivers and Adapters

  • Timing Control & Verification

  • ARINC653 compliant Application

  • DO-178B Certification

Successful implementations

  • Advanced Mission and Vehicle Plant Control Equipment SW for Helicopters

  • High-Integrity Flight Control Computer Management

Avionic Network Concentrator

Space & Weight cabling reduction of the onboard Avionic is a severe constraint for new Aircrafts. Very High Speed connections are available and allow the development of smart components that integrate several legacy avionic busses and convoy their data traffic to the high speed network taking care of communication protocols and throughput differences.

Our offering includes

  • ARINC compliant interfaces

  • A429 and MIL-STD-1553 integration

  • Data Flow Monitoring and Control

  • Integrated Modular Architecture

Successful implementations

  • Aircraft and Unmanned System Data Concentrator

Radar Console

The Console is used by air traffic control radar operators to guide pilots during runway approach and landing. For each detected aircraft its three-dimensional position (range, azimuth and elevation), speed, direction and distance to the touchdown is continuously calculated and displayed. The system provides alarm and Weather Detection

Our offering includes

  • Aircraft tracking

  • Aircraft classification

  • Multiple runways

  • Multiple glide paths

  • Multi Radar Tracking integration

Successful implementations

  • High Precision Radar Console for civilian and military Airports in Italy, Suisse, France

User Ground Segment applications

Accessing the UGS, the user can consult catalogues, requests new acquisitions or specific processing on data. Starting from these generic requests the UGS typically split them in single acquisitions and handle the complete acquisition request life cycle from the sensing up to the delivery to the user.

Our offering includes

  • Monitoring & control systems

  • Catalogue services development

  • Ordering service

  • Planning

  • Processing

  • Standard based solutions

Successful implementations

  • ESA MUIS system

  • Cosmo-SkyMed User Ground Segment

  • ESA DREAM

IV&V of Ground Segment applications

Flexibility of the approach and clear understanding of Earth Observation scenarios support the effectiveness of the activity.

Our offering includes

  • Integration of systems

  • Validation of new software deliveries

  • Analysis of anomalies and driving of maintainers teams

  • Verification of external systems communicating over complex protocols

Successful implementations

  • ESA User Services

  • Copernicus Data Access Systems

  • Copernicus Data Access Systems v3

  • EO Service Contract

  • EO Data Librarian

  • Integration of Earth Explorers and TPMs with PDGS

GNSS SDR

Software Defined Radio (SDR) is the technique of getting code routines as close to the antenna as possible. It basically turns radio hardware problems into software problems.

The fundamental characteristic of a GNSS SDR receiver is that software processes the received signal from the navigation satellites, in place of an analog circuit or an application-specific DSP. Thus, a significant increase of flexibility and adaptability is possible.

Our offering includes

  • GNSS Front-End Architecture

  • Signal In Space Signal Analysis

  • Research and Algorithm Development

  • Simulation of the receiver behaviour in different scenarios

  • Commercial and Professional Receiver Verification and Validation (V&V)

  • Receiver chain calibration

Successful implementations

  • SOFTREC: ESA Contract for Real-Time SW Receiver

  • SOFTREC-G: Support for Galileo signals in GTR (Galileo Test Range)

  • gLab Analysis Tool; tested and validated by ESTEC and used in the Galileo In-Orbit Validation Phase

GNSS Vulnerability

GNSS systems present two main weaknesses: their signals are weak and, in  case of civil GNSS, they are also unauthenticated.

With weak signal, other signals in the same GPS frequency band don’t need to be very strong at all in order to override the satellite signals and jamm the GNSS signal. Civil GNSS signals do not have authentication: they are broadcast “in the clear” potentially vulnerable to spoofing. In general, a spoofing attack is a situation in which one person or program successfully masquerades as another by falsifying data and thereby gaining an illegitimate advantage.

Our offering includes

  • Statistical Analysis on raw samples for Interference Detection

  • Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring

  • EGNOS Integrity

  • Anti-Spoofing algorithm based on Cross Time, Cross Dynamics, Cross Navigation Consistency Check

  • Spoofing capability (e.g. towards enemy UAV)

Successful implementations
